I Love Oreos.

Ok, so definitely the first thing you need to know about me is that I'm very real (hence the opening title).  And no matter how much schooling and experience I've had, nothing will change the fact that I'm Italian and I love food.  And eating.  And eating lots of food. 

Over the years I've had to (unfortunately) come to the conclusion that my palate and my body do not go hand in hand.  In fact, it seems they hate each other and are determined to make me miserable.  So!  I've had to meet them in the middle (hey, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em) and I have spent several years trying to come up with the perfect solution to this and finally, I think I've got it: YOU AREN'T PERFECT.  AND YOU NEVER WILL BE.  Stop trying to make diets, crazy resolutions, and out of control exercise regimens work because they won't.  At least, for those who don't want it to. 

And that's the key: you need to want it.  Constantly.  I work my tail off trying to find ways to motivate myself and to keep with a general routine (maintenance is a motha) and I've noticed that when I truly LISTEN to my body and figure out what it's looking for and stop trying to force it with foods I really don't want/like, I can work with this lifestyle and this body.   I would like these pages to help you (or rather lead you) into the arms (wrapper?) of something that's got the taste of a peppermint patty but the nutrition of an organic, cage-free, antibiotic-free, pesticide-free, GMO-free egg (um...or something to that effect).  'Cuz let's face it-not everything your body wants (or your wallet for that matter) can ultimately come that easy AND still taste great AND still deliver the results you want so while I can offer you advice and examples, it's solely up to you to determine if it's the right product for you.  So I don't wanna hear it-I know what should be clean eating and what should be the best thing I put in my body but I also know that weight loss and sugar-reduction and consistency is what can assist with the freedom of type II diabetes, the lowering of medications for hypertensive and hypercholesterolemia issues, the overall longer lifespan of a human, AND what has kept me going for the last 11 years.  So sit back, relax, enjoy (or absolutely hate) what I put on here.  And please feel free to share the foods you love too and what other items have been a great replacement for you when that fabulous bacon cheeseburger (WITH the sweet potato fries) just isn't going to make the cut when you're trying to squeeze into that amazing dress you bought for the bachelorette party you have coming up.  (Oh, and in case you were wondering, ENLIGHTENED Mint Ice Cream Sandwiches is the answer to the peppermint patty riddle).
